Event History

  • 07/24/2000 -- Close (Close per Dixie Linnenbrink.)
  • 03/24/1999 -- Deferred (Direct the Executive Secretary to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the Commission and the Department of Health to have the DOH coordinate Year 2000 issues for all water systems regulated by both agencies.)
  • 01/27/1999 -- Deferred (1)Amend previously issued order to public utilities operating in WA to adopt uniform reporting formats. The electric companies should use the uniform reporting format developed by the North American Reliability Council and adopted by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and the telecommunications companies should use the uniform reporting format approved by the Federal Communications Commission. There is no uniform reporting format for gas operation; staff will work with those companies to develop mutually acceptable reporting guidelines. 2)Amend the order previously issued to regulated investor owned utilities operating in WA to submit final contingency plans at later dates than previously ordered. The dates for submission of final contingency plans should be: April 30, 1999 for gas operations, May 30, 1999 for telecommunications operations, and June 30, 1999 for electric operations. Companies with multiple operations should consult with Commission staff for an acceptable filing deadline.)
  • 05/27/1998 -- Deferred (Commissioner Hemstad moved to 1) Direct the facility-based public utilities listed in Attachment 1 of the staff memorandum to provide quarterly reports regarding the status of their Y2K compliance efforts in Washington. 2) Direct those utilities to notify their business customers of the need to bring their utility-related customer premise equipment into Y2K compliance. 3) Direct all utilities to submit their year 2000 utility service restoration contingency plans to the Commission for review, and 4) Direct the Secretary to coordinate with other federal and state organizations and media to minimize duplication of regulatory oversight efforts and to assist in providing accurate and sufficient information to the public. Commissioner Gillis seconded the motion. The motion carried (3:0).)
