Summary: Less than statutory notice request for Tariff revisions for the North Sound/Marysville business unit that would generate approximately $462,000 (5.3 percent) additional annual revenue to recover the increased cost of disposal fees set by the King County City Council. On January 1, 2024, disposal fees will decrease from $168.68 per ton to $150.83 per ton with an additional fixed annual charge of $34.45 per ton as reflected in the King County Solid Waste Code. The new disposal fee will be $185.28, an overall increase is $16.60 per ton. Also includes a request to retain up to 50 percent of the revenue received for the sale of recyclable commodities in accordance with the 2024-2025 Revenue Sharing Plans with King and Snohomish Counties; and requests a $1.31 increase (credit decrease from $0.97 to a charge of $0.34) per month for residential recycling customers in Snohomish County and $1.18 increase (credit decrease from $0.87 to a charge of $0.31) per month for residential recycling customer in King County. Multi-family recycling customers’ charges are changing proportionately to the changes to residential customers. This filing also include the initiation of new revenue sharing plans with the Counties. The Company serves approximately 93,000 recycling customers in Snohomish Counties, and approximately 23,000 garbage and 22,000 recycling customers in King County. The Company’s last general rate case became effective September 1, 2015.
