Summary: Less than statutory notice request by Waste Management – North Sound for tariff revisions that would generate approximately $449,000 (4.7 percent) additional annual revenue to recover the increased cost of disposal fees and fixed annual charges set by the King County Council. On January 1, 2025, disposal fees will increase from $150.83 per ton to $165.91 per ton plus an additional fixed annual charge of $37.92 per ton as reflected in Title 10 of the King County Solid Waste Code. Also requests tariff revisions and request to retain up to 50 percent of the revenue received for the sale or recyclable commodities in accordance with the Revenue Sharing Plan with King County, and a $1.82 decrease (credit increase from a charge of $0.34 to credit of $1.48) per month for residential recycling customers in Snohomish County, a $2.01 decrease (credit increase from a charge of $0.31 to credit of $1.70) per month for residential recycling customers in King County, and changing proportionately per yard per month for multi-family recycling customers. The Company provides refuse and recycling services to approximately 115,000 customers in King and Snohomish Counties. The Company’s last general rate increase became effective November 1, 2024.
