LACEY, Wash. — The Utilities and Transportation Commission is holding two virtual public comment hearings to gather input regarding Cascadia Water, LLC’s proposed rate increase, which could raise annual revenue by approximately $1.79 million.

BACKGROUND 

In February 2024, Cascadia Water, LLC filed tariff revisions proposing an approximately 75% increase in annual revenue, generating $1,788,793. The company’s last general rate adjustment was effective July 1, 2021. The UTC is holding these hearings as part of the adjudication process to hear public input on the proposed changes. 

Whidbey Island-based Cascadia Water, LLC provides water utility services to more than 9,000 customers on Whidbey Island and in the Olympic Peninsula area. 

The UTC is the state agency that regulates private, investor-owned electric and natural gas utilities in Washington. It is the commission’s responsibility to ensure regulated companies provide equitable, safe, and reliable service to customers at reasonable rates, while allowing them the opportunity to earn a fair profit.
