LACEY, Wash. — The Utilities and Transportation Commission is holding a virtual public comment hearing to gather input regarding Summit View Water Works’ proposed rate increase, which could raise annual revenue by about $514,000.

BACKGROUND

In July 2024, Summit View Water Works filed tariff revisions proposing an approximately 54% increase in annual revenue, amounting to $514,000. The company’s last general rate adjustment was effective Nov. 1, 2018. The UTC is holding these hearings as part of the adjudication process to hear public input on the proposed changes.

Kennewick-based Summit View Water Works provides water utility services approximately 630 domestic and 680 irrigation customers in Benton County.

The UTC regulates the rates and services of water and natural gas companies, investor-owned electric utilities, telecommunications companies, solid waste collection companies, household-goods movers and passenger transportation companies, commercial ferries, pipeline companies, marine pilotage, and a low-level radioactive waste repository. The commission does not regulate the rates of broadband services, cellular, cable, or Internet service.
