UTC names Amy Reynolds as new Communications Director

LACEY, Wash. – The Utilities and Transportation Commission has named Amy Reynolds as its new communications director, bringing over two decades of public service experience and expertise in strategic communication to the role. 

Reynolds has spent 24 years in Washington state government, serving in a variety of communication and leadership roles. Most recently, she led a team of organizational change managers at the Department of Labor & Industries (L&I). Her previous work includes serving as strategic communications director at the Department of Health (DOH), where she helped launch WA Notify, an award-winning COVID-19 exposure notification tool that saved lives across the state. 

“Amy’s deep experience in public communications and her proven ability to lead complex, impactful initiatives make her an invaluable addition to our team,” said Executive Director Jeff Killip. “Her expertise will be instrumental in furthering the commission’s mission to serve the people of Washington.” 

Reynolds’ extensive career includes notable roles at L&I and DOH, where she successfully executed strategic communication plans, collaborated with stakeholders, and implemented innovative tools to enhance public engagement. She is also a certified change management practitioner and holds a master’s degree in public administration from The Evergreen State College. 

The UTC regulates the rates and services of investor-owned electric utilities, telecommunications companies, natural gas and water companies, solid waste collection companies, household-goods movers and passenger transportation companies, commercial ferries, pipeline companies, marine pilotage, and a low-level radioactive waste repository. The commission does not regulate the rates of broadband services, cellular, cable, or Internet service.
