Summary Petition for an exemption by Waste Management of Washington’s South Sound/Seattle business unit from WAC 480-70-351(2) requesting calculation of the commodity credit based on the most recent six months of actual cost; request to retain up to 50 percent of the revenue received for the sale of recyclable commodities in accordance with the 2018-2019 King County Revenue Sharing Plan; and requested $2.20 increase (decrease from a credit of $1.42 to a charge of $0.78) per month for residential recycling customers. Also, tariff revisions that would generate approximately $190,000 (2.1 percent) additional annual revenue to recover the increased cost of disposal fees set by the King County Council, which will increase from $134.59 per ton to $140.82 per ton at all King County transfer stations. In addition, the King County Board of Health is increasing the Local Hazardous Waste Management Plan fee by 5.4 percent, or $0.04 per month for single family customers. The company serves approximately 17,700 garbage and recycling customers in King County. The company’s last general rate case became effective June 1, 2014.
