Public Railroad Crossings

The UTC regulates safety at public railroad crossings across the state with the exception of the state’s First-Class Cities (unless a first-class city has opted into the UTC’s safety inspection program). The UTC ensures compliance with state law, UTC rules, and the Manual of Traffic Control Devices through routine inspections of signage, warning devices, and crossing surfaces.
